Counselor in Training Program (CIT)

Are you looking for a rewarding summer experience? Hiram House Camp’s Counselor-in-Training Program offers qualified young individuals aged 14-16 an exceptional opportunity to prepare for positions as camp counselors or recreation leaders. Our comprehensive program focuses on developing leadership skills, enhancing small group dynamics, fostering teamwork, improving communication abilities, and honing program management skills.

The Counselor-in-Training Program at Hiram House is designed for youth who have a desire to continue their journey with us as counselors. As a CIT, you will actively contribute to organizing games and activities for campers while providing assistance to our day camp counselors in their daily responsibilities. By participating in our CIT program, you’ll gain real-world job training and have the opportunity to earn volunteer hours for school. At the end of the program, each participant will receive a thorough evaluation, and a letter of participation will be sent to their school.

Program Dates: June 3 – July 19, 2024

CIT Requirements:

To be eligible for our CIT Program, you must be a former Hiram House camper aged 14-17 who has completed at least three summers at our camp. Selection for the CIT program is competitive and involves completing an application form, submitting multiple references, and attending an interview. As part of the selection process, all CITs will undergo fingerprinting and background checks.

We are seeking applicants who possess a genuine interest in recreational youth development and working with campers aged 5-12. Successful CITs must demonstrate a commitment to giving their best effort, boundless enthusiasm, and a positive attitude in all aspects of the training program.
